
As a consultant (advisor) to an organization, you must have experienced the followings:
You have signed a contract with some of the stakeholders to , for example, carry out process optimization. You would like to enhance the performance of the tasks, etc. You start your work and try to implement your optimization processes. However, you find out the the employees lack necessary technological knowledge to understand the new concept. But this short come is not uniform across the departments.
One solution would be to provide an educational and/or training program for them. But this task was not included in your contract. However, your optimization procedures might also fail because of its interactions with the staff. Hence, you have not been able to comply with the terms of your contract.
Solution:
Before you sign your contract, you must assess the capabilities of the staff and might include appropriate training course for them.
However, in my opinion, the stakeholders should think ahead and provide appropriate educational program for their staff.
